Independent Fabrication Picture Collection

I wish I could say I had built all of these, but this is just a random collection of photos from around the web.  Enjoy.

This just in...

Our very first Felt F65x!  This is Felt's first foray into disc brakes on a CX bike, though we're told just the beginning.

The finish is beautifully done, the matte black/white/silver works really well on this bike.  The frame is alloy and virtually identical to that of the F55x, albeit with a rear disc mount.  Spacing on the rear is a very smart 135mm, so any disc 29er wheels are ready to slot in.

The fork on the other hand is all new for Felt.  It's a near-full-carbon fork, with a carbon steerer, the only alloy being found in the dropouts.  If this is anything like Felt's other forks, expect it to be quite stiff.  It's tapered from 1-1/8" to 1-1/2".

The drivetrain consists of SRAM Apex shifters, Rival derailleurs, a SRAM alloy S300 BB30 crankset with 46/38 chainrings, a SRAM chain and 11-28 cassette.

Rounding out the kit are Ashima rotors, a Felt Devox cockpit, and Felt CXR3 wheels.  We're mostly curious how the rotors and wheels will do.  The lightweight rotors are LIGHT, and the wheels are 24 hole laced 2x front and 28h 2x rear.

2013 Ridley Cyclocross

It seems strange to be looking forward to fall of 2012 in the middle of February.  And with this mild winter we've had, you'd think summer would be the only thing on my mind.

After spending the weekend at Frostbike, though, Ridley has firmly placed themselves at the forefront of my cyclocross-based mindset.  Check out a brief overview of the models they have coming to Iron Cycles around July.

DISC!  Yes, disc.  They are coming.  And we'll have them.

Early Bird Spring Tune Up Special

This mild winter has us hopeful that spring is around the corner.  Maybe you are the type to be prepared, a Boy Scout if you will.  Or maybe your resolution this year was to plan ahead?  We have you covered.  Well, we have your bike covered, the rest is up to you.

Through the end of February we have a special tune up, something like we've never done before.

Check it:

2 new tires (Michelin City or Continental Super Sport) - $70-80 MSRP

2 new tubes (start fresh, ya know?) - $12 MSRP

2 new derailleur cables - $16 MSRP

2 new brake cables - $16 MSRP

1 Breakaway Tune Up - $100 MSRP

This normally goes for over $200.

Through the end of February all you pay for is the tune up!

$100 for the tune gets you a ton of new parts to get you rolling for spring.

Pretty simple.  We're ready for you and spring, we'll get you ready as well.  This is only good through February, so act fast!

Niner Jet9 RDO Carbon IN STOCK!

Yes, we have one.  And only one.  It's a large, licorice, Jet9 RDO Carbon.  Don't want to wait months for your own?  Give us a shout.  Orders for other colors or sizes placed now aren't expected to arrive until well into spring.

Best of luck finding another one!

Niner Carbon Air9 RDO - FIRST!

You may have seen this first on Bikerumor.com, but our order was in first.  Yes, that's right, there's only one shop that can claim getting the first Air9 RDO, and that's us.  A large, licorice version of the complete bike with XTR, American Classic 29 Race wheels, SID World Cup XX fork, and a Niner cockpit.

If you want it, speak up.  Only 50 are being made in the first run and they're all sold.  Demand is expected to be like the Jet9 RDO, which means the wait will be looooong......

Rear brake mount has been moved inside the stays.  This is said to allow Niner to use less material to reinforce the stays, reducing weight.

The CYA bottom bracket system was left behind on this model and instead uses SRAMs PF30 system.  30mm spindles are lighter and stiffer.  The system also allows for a full carbon bottom bracket shell, saving more weight.

Niner has done away with the previous Air9 Carbon cable routing and instead uses a full housing run.  You may not care about this, but I am thrilled.  After having built a dozen or so Air9 Carbon frames, this is HUGE.

This is the color of our forthcoming Air9 RDO, LICORICE!  While the green is something sexy, green just doesn't work for me.  I'd love to see this thing in Tang eventually.
